GENERAL INFORMATION / POLICIES
As a productive English student, you need to have the following supplies with you each day:
1 spiral notebook to be used exclusively for English
#2 pencils, black and/or blue and/or green and/or red ball point pens
The classroom is a place for learning, personal growth and discovery. While in English, I expect you to:
1. Treat others (their opinions and opportunities to learn) with respect.
2. Treat COHS and your fellow classmates’ property with respect.
3. Respect the time allotted for class/learning.
4. Contribute positively.
5. Follow directions.
All additional rules/guidelines as set forth in the COHS agenda will be followed.
Your SEMESTER GRADE will be calculated as follows:
Assessments ________ (Tests, Quizzes, Compositions, Long Term Projects)
Class work ________ (Notebook Checks)
Final Exam 10%
All TESTS and major QUIZZES are announced in advance. A makeup test must be arranged with me if you were absent the day of the test. It is your responsibility to make up any test you miss. If you do not make up a test within a week of it being given, you will receive a zero. Since the due dates for ESSAYS/PROJECTS are given far in advance they WILL NOT be accepted late.
"Students benefit from the structure, organization and self-discipline that HOMEWORK requires.” (Math Rashes and Other Classroom Tales, 100) Therefore, it is due on time! Assignments submitted one day late will receive partial credit (No exceptions will be made as these are time sensitive assignments).
Your active participation in this class is essential. I expect you to be ready and willing to work upon entering my classroom.
